Career Fair is right around the corner! The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences �� office is here to help you market your study abroad experience to employers to earn your dream summer internship or even a fulltime job!

Studying abroad in college has many benefits including making your resume stand out for future employers, creating a global network, developing valuable life and technical skills, and gaining a global perspective.

When creating your resume, it is important to include action words such as exchanged, immersed, adapted, cultivated, etc. Action words are used to highlight your skills, involvement, and impact and help you avoid overused lingo.

Combining action verbiage with skills and competencies will put you on the right track for career success! When answering questions, composing a cover letter, or creating a resume, be sure to include how studying abroad impacted your interpersonal, intrapersonal, communication and adaptability skills!

When answering questions at the career fair or in an interview, be sure to include your experience abroad and how it has impacted you personally and professionally. By using action words and clearly stating what skills and competencies you gained from studying abroad, you can set yourself apart from other applicants!

Be sure to include study abroad experiences on your resume! Include study abroad information in the Education, International Experience, or Professional Experience sections of your resume. Be sure to include the study abroad program title, location, dates traveled, and a brief description of skills learned while abroad. A concise but descriptive resume ensure that you have room to expand upon your experiences during interviews.

We will discuss how to format international experience on a resume and how to incorporate study abroad into behavioral based interview questions. This workshop is applicable to those that have participated in a faculty-led travel course or a semester-long/exchange program (or any student interested in studying abroad).
