With the  on Tuesday, February 2nd, our office thought we would share a little information about study abroad and resumes, including where you can put study abroad on your resume.

When it comes to creating your resume, you might initially think of adding your contact details, education, and work experiences. However, study abroad is also an important experience that can boost your resume. In the "Beginner vs Experienced Resumes" article, AgCareers.com highlights that skills like knowing a language and being aware of issues around the world are ways to show off your study abroad experience.

The article says that study abroad can be added to the Experience section of your resume, but this is not the only place study abroad can fit on your resume. You can also add study abroad to

  • Education section- this may be a great fit if you took classes abroad and want to showcase those classes and international experience.
  • International Experience section- if you've participated on more than one international experience or if you want to emphasize the experience on your resume, then creating an International Experience section could be a good option for you.
  • Activities section- an activities section could be beneficial if you volunteered or participated in an activity abroad that you want to show on your resume.
  • Language section- adding a language section could be helpful for those who took intensive language classes abroad or practiced their language while abroad for their major or minor.

If you're unsure how to use study abroad on your resume, our office will host a Marketing Your 草榴社区 Experience webinar this Spring, which is a great opportunity to learn how study abroad will help you land a job and how to incorporate it in your resume.
